Breydon Water crossing to be streamed live

Our first broadcast shall be a crossing over Breydon Water on Sunday 1st April and all being well shall begin sometime between 12:15 and 12:30pm (subject to tides check Twitter for updates).

While there has been many a person who has photographed Breydon Water and others still who have captured their crossing to video – some even producing helpful guides on what to do and what not – it surely is another first that you can watch such live.

It is not often I get to go over this stretch of water , and history is littered with tales of both hire and private cruisers running aground, some even being stuck and their cabin roofs decapitated under the low old railway bridge at Yarmouth.  It is not without its worries and one must more than ever have their wits about them during the passage.

Normally the rivers and broads are sedate affairs but heading over Breydon requires some calculation.  One must know what the tides are doing and plan arrival to cross to match ‘slack water’.  To be honest it is not written in stone that one must, but to follow the ebb tide from Acle will mean your fuel consumption is lower, there will be more clearance under the bridges at Yarmouth and less currents to contend with as you exit the River Bure to head on over Breydon Water.

I’m confident that all this can be achieved while we are streaming live – and should disaster strike and we end up run aground or broken down, it will certainly be something of a spectacle to watch!

To further spread the word today I designed and ordered two 3ft by 1ft PVC banners that will be shown on the outside of the boat when we are live making us all the more hard to miss and those who may wish to see what all the kerfuffle is about look us up online and perhaps join in (or at least watch the recorded highlights).

So look out for further updates in the coming weeks before the day itself because we hope the forthcoming broadcasts will be entertaining, informative and interesting.

This all seems to have come from nowhere and I am interested to see what comes of this.

You are doing some pretty epic stuff, just don't end up with egg on your face!
